Why Bob Clearmountain Doesn’t Mix In The Box

3 main SSL Automation features shown: 1. Rollback Join/Jump
With a VCA or non-moving fader, you can find your preferred new level, rewind, and hit the button to jump to that exact level change.
You can even use the Join command to do this across multiple faders at once.
This can't be done with moving faders or DAW automation because when you rewind the fader snaps back to its original position. losing the exact level change. 2. Mix Playlists
The SSL computer can store multiple mix passes, so you can freely update your mix without worrying about losing your previous work. You can even edit between different passes to combine the best elements of each. 3. Autotakeover:
Smoothly transitions the updated fader level back into the original automation.
